Unfortunately, the collection of shop in retail premises images is rather small compared with the many small shops and businesses that ran within the larger area we know as Sprowston.   A 1970s Advert for Yeomans Electrical Shop on North Walsham Road which is still trading in 2019.

  A 1970s Advert for Norwich Video Centre in Cannerby Lane.

  A 1970s Advert for Brian Anthony’s in School Lane. The business is still trading in the same premises in 2019.

  Shopping Area Corbet Avenue in the early 2000s there were the following shops, Grocers, Newsagent (Doug Leeks) and Hazels the Butchers.

  Londis Shop In Linacre Avenue in the early 2000s originally there had been a parade of shops, grocers, greengrocer and butchers.

  Astoria's Hairdressers shop on the corner of Denmark Opening and Sprowston Road now the Denmark Stores - taken 1945.

  Harrison's & Cobb's Stores on Sprowston Road with the Mill in the background. The Harrison Family also owned the mill. It should be noted that F. Cobb was not only a grocer and baker but when this photo was taken was also running the Post Office.

  Mill shop on Sprowston Road in 2004. Over the years this had been a Post Office, grocery shop, insurance brokers office, estate agents.

  Blanch's Coal shop in 1945 in front stands the sign for the Norfolk Arms PH beyond the lamp standard is a pet food shop which was taken over by Blanch's and incorporated into their shop a few years later.

  Tram Shed Office block, the junction of Silver Road and Sprowston Road. The building is the one in the background. The lighting shop stood in what had been three shops one of which was Sale the Chemist the nearest pharmacy to Sprowston up until the 1970s.

  Tram shed offices, at the junction of Silver Road as in 2012, it is now business offices after being used as retail premises in the early 2000s. The building still stands although much altered as housing.

  Adverts from a 1970s Sprowston Map. For Ashworths Carpet and Furniture in Corbet Avenue in the premises built as Lings Fish and Chip shop in the 1960s.

  Blenheim Garage / Filling Station and shops on Wroxham Road in 2003. Bugden's first supermarket is still trading before moving to new premises on Blue Boar Lane. This later became TESCO's The garage was also taken over by TESCO’s to become a TESCO Express.

  The Woodman Crossroad at the corner with School Lane and North Walsham Road. The shop on the R. H Corner (opposite Billy's fish and chip shop in School Lane) has recently been demolished and rebuilt as flats. The shop was quite unique the front being in Old Catton and the rear in Sprowston.

  Bugden's Supermarket in the 1970s? It was soon closed and reopened on a new site on Blue Boar Lane - now a Tesco's.
