Coming out of Norwich on Constitution Hill when the road reached a crossroads at the Woodman public house the road became the North Walsham Road the B1150. Until the first quarter of the 20th century there was little development along this road although after World War II the areas that had not been developed prior to the war rapidly became developed with a mixture of private and council housing. Some of the housing developments on the eastern side are noticeably in a dip where quarrying for brickearth the local kilns had taken place.
