Buff Arches Moth

The buff arches (Habrosyne pyritoides) is a moth of the family Drepanidae. It is found throughout Europe and is well distributed in the British Isles except the far north of England and all of Scotland.

This is a distinctive and attractive species, its grey-brown forewings marked with bold buff-orange "arches." The hindwings are grey with white margins. The wingspan is 40–45 mm. It flies from June to August and is attracted to light and sugar.

The larva is orange-brown with a prominent white spot on each side of the head and feeds on bramble, hawthorn and hazel. The species overwinters as a pupa.<ref>[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buff_arches Buff Arches], Wikipedia.</ref>

A bumblebee, also written bumble bee, is a member of the bee genus Bombus, in the family Apidae. The brood parasitic or cuckoo bumblebees have sometimes been classified as a subgenus or genus, Psithyrus, but are now usually treated as members of Bombus. This genus is the only extant group in the tribe Bombini, though a few extinct related genera (e.g., Calyptapis) are known from fossils. Over 250 species are known, found primarily in higher latitudes or at higher altitude in the Northern Hemisphere, although they also occur in South America; however, a few lowland tropical species are known. European bumblebees have been introduced to New Zealand and Tasmania.

Bumblebees are social insects which form colonies with a single queen. Colonies are smaller than those of honeybees, growing to as few as 50 individuals in a nest. Female bumblebees can sting repeatedly, but generally ignore humans and other animals. Eurasian Blue Tit

The Eurasian blue tit (Cyanistes caeruleus) is a small passerine bird in the tit family Paridae. The bird is easily recognisable by its blue and yellow plumage, but various authorities dispute their scientific classification.

Eurasian blue tits, usually resident and non-migratory birds, are widespread and a common resident breeder throughout temperate and subarctic Europe and western Asia in deciduous or mixed woodlands with a high proportion of oak. They usually nest in tree holes, although they easily adapt to nest boxes where necessary. Their main rival for nests and in the search for food is the larger great tit.

The Eurasian blue tit prefers insects and spiders for its diet. Outside the breeding season, they also eat seeds and other vegetable-based foods. The birds are famed for their skill, as they can cling to the outermost branches and hang upside down when looking for food.

It is about 20 cm (8 in) long and has glossy black plumage, which is speckled with white at some times of year. The legs are pink and the bill is black in winter and yellow in summer; young birds have browner plumage than the adults. It is a noisy bird, especially in communal roosts and other gregarious situations, with an unmusical but varied song. Barred Yellow Moth

The Barred Yellow (Cidaria fulvata) is a moth of the family Geometridae. The species can be found in Europe and Central Asia.

The wingspan is 20–25 mm. The forewing have yellow or ochre ground colour. There is a wide rust cross band which is traversed by violet-gray. This is jagged towards the margin and has thin cream line edges, connected along the costa to a triangular cream stain at the apex. The hindwings are plain whitish yellow.

The moths fly from June to July. The species prefers woodland, chalk downland and scrubland.
