	The Beehive was built as part of the housing development taking place around Cannerby Lane in the late 1950s. Situated on Cannerby Lane it looked out onto a grassed area which until being filled in had been a pond as the area had been agricultural. The pub was one of a range of businesses arranged around this area, a small Co-op supermarket and a range of lock-up shops selling a wide range of locally required goods or providing services such as hairdressers. 	The design of the public house ~~were~~ by architects associated with the brewers Youngs, Crawshay & Youngs but by the time the premises opened this company had been taken over by Bullards in 1956. When finished the first licensees were Mr. & Mrs Stanley Arthur Brown when the premises opened on Tuesday, 27 October 1959. 	After many attempts to reinvigorate The Beehive the end finally came in January 2014. There was something of an irony that the purchaser was the Co-Operative to turn it into a convenience store having demolished their own supermarket some 20+ years previously.
